Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with 100,000 horsepower strength and a heart of gold. Based on the comics by Osamu Tezuka, known as “the Disney of Japan,” the “Father of Manga” and the originator of the “big-eyed” Japanese anime style, Astro Boy (circa 1951) has gone through many incarnations. Astro Boy The Movie was computer-generated by Imagi Animation, working closely with Osamu Tezuka’s son, Macoto Tezuka. Directed by David Bowers, produced by Maryann Garger with Pilar Flynn as associate producer, and distributed by Summit Entertainment. The film features the voices of Kristen Bell, Nathan Lane, Eugene Levy, Matt Lucas, Bill Nighy, Donald Sutherland, Nicolas Cage and Freddie Highmore as Astro Boy.
